Caring for South African Orphans since 2012
Onthatile Children’s Ministries NPO/NGO is a non-profit ministry located in Johannesburg, South Africa. Onthatile strives to be purposefully invested in the lives of our community through caring for vulnerable children and families and pointing them to Christ.
What started as a dream to provide a loving home and family for orphaned and vulnerable children has grown into a ministry that provides daily education and loving homes for South African children. We’ve assisted with over 75 adoptions and permanent foster placements.
When Onthatile first began, we primarily provided a home for abandoned or orphaned children and cared for them until they could be adopted into local families. As our ministry continues to grow and change, the needs of our community and children are also changing. Today, we are currently in the process of starting a school where we will provide a loving Christ-centered education to our children and other children in the community.
Meet Our Interim Director
The Board of Directors of Onthatile Children's Ministries is pleased to introduce Duncan Govender as Interim Director. Duncan leads the ministry's day-to-day operations, working under the authority and oversight of the Board.
Duncan is committed to seeing Onthatile continue faithfully in its mission — caring well for the children and families entrusted to the ministry, while providing steady leadership and support to our staff and ministry team. The Board is grateful for his willingness to serve in this season, and invites our ministry partners and friends to join in praying for Duncan, our staff, and our children as we move forward together.
Duncan and his wife, Leanne, have been married for 25 years and have five children. The family has partnered with Onthatile since 2020 and has lived on the ministry property since 2023. Duncan also serves as an appointed Deacon at Antioch Bible Church, with oversight of several ministries there.
Professionally, Duncan works in the banking sector as a Global Mobility specialist, with experience in executive remuneration, high-net-worth individual taxation, and global immigration and relocation.
